Well, the season is upon us! Time for family get-togethers. Family staying in that spare room you could think of 100 more uses for. Dishes piling up in the sink, waiting for you to finish before you can even think about going to bed. Family arguing over silly stuff. Kids running in and out the doors constantly. And long days of preparation to get to these results.
However, I have a secret getaway! My workshop. When things get a little too much for me, all I have to do is pull out the old "I have orders that have to be done by Christmas" excuse. Now don't get me wrong. I can handle get-togethers for a bit. However, when things get too crowded and noisy, it can be a bit much to handle for a few hour stretch.
Speaking of my workshop, I have been very busy lately. This is why I haven't done any updates on the website. I recently finished up 2 orders for 288 total keychains. All of these done by hand at every step, I might add. I have not gotten enough capital saved up for presses and setters to speed up the process. Next year I will be a little wiser, and more prosperous to hopefully afford these items. On top of the keychain orders, I have been working on numerous wallets, and a few bags. Throw in a couple of book covers to help end the year on a great note!
I have made some new purchases for the shop recently! I have bought an English Paring Knife to help speed up the skiving (thinning) process, new needles, French style obverse pricking irons, and a different brand of thread. These items have helped me make some great improvements on my stitching. I have also signed up for a year long subscription to a leathercrafting masterclass. I have learned so much in just the few videos I have watched that has made it worth the money already. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me in this class! I already have so many ideas floating through my head that I want to get started on. But current orders come first. I also have our Christmas to think about.
I'm getting past the 2 minute read mark on this post. I suppose I'd better shut it down for now and get back to work. One thing I have to remind myself of is to utilize my extra time better to enable me to get further in my goals. So far, I'm doing pretty good but there is always room for improvement.
Until next time, I hope you enjoy the holidays. Take time out for your family, I know I talk a lot of B.S. about it but, they are precious, so enjoy! Bye for now.
